TOWER ROCK
September 1, 1922: "Tuesday morning O.R. Lewis, forest service lookout at Tower rock, while on his way to visit his wife who is in a hospital in Tacoma, was precipitated into the Cispus river by the breaking of the cable. He fell a distance of approximately 30 feet and sustained severe injuries. His left wrist was broken and his face badly cut above the eye, and his hip was badly crushed. Lewis was given first-aid treatment by Doctor Skinner at Randle and Thursday was taken to the government hospital in Tacoma for X-ray examination." (Chehalis Bee-Nugget)
